What we do

Forth Sector runs successful social firms (businesses) and develops new business ideas to provide employment for people with mental health problems. Our social firms offer real, valued work for staff and trainees while meeting the demands of their diverse customers.

Our track record

During 2005-06 Forth Sector helped 50 people back into mainstream employment or further education and training.

We’ve been running small businesses for 15 years so there’s a wealth of experience in the team on how to do it. Our businesses range from manufacturing through services to retail and company turnover amounts to over £1.5 million.

Forth Sector believes in quality and has won national awards including the prestigious Scottish Thistle Award in customer care, the Silver Green Tourism Award, have obtained Investors in People accreditation and the Bronze Scotland's Health at Work Award.

Forth Sector hub

Our central support unit provides expertise in finance, human resource, administration, marketing, business development and staff/trainee support to its businesses. This hub structure enables the business managers to concentrate on delivering their business objectives and a supportive working environment.

Our future

We continue to grow and expand our current businesses and seek out new business ideas that will create more jobs for people with mental health problems. The target is to have 85% of our income generated on a commercial basis by March 2008.
