Social firm placements

Following a successful initial interview, we offer a one-day taster session within the selected business organised by the training team. After careful assessment we meet the potential trainee to discuss whether he/she feels up to working a three-month placement.

Trainees can then begin work experience one day a week with the opportunity to increase this to two days a week when they feel ready.

Scheduled training varies according to each business and includes on-the-job coaching, an induction, health and safety awareness and working with others.

Other training courses are offered throughout the year, ranging from food hygiene and preparation, to quality control and customer care.

All trainees are given a training allowance of £10 per shift, to a maximum of £20 per week.

Welfare benefits

Participation in our training courses or work placements does not affect a client’s benefits so this is a good way of testing the water before taking the decision to move into paid work.
