Employability Services

Our primary focus as a charity is to provide employability support to those experiencing disadvantage through unemployment and who live in Edinburgh. We do this through our Employability Services team. When a person wishes to return to employment after a period of ill health or to seek employment for the first time they may feel they need some practical help and support. Forth Sector Employability Services team can provide that person with an individualised plan to move them towards employment by building on existing skills and supporting the development of new work related skills. We also provide a number of training courses which will assist in the development of employability skills. We can also support people to develop work skills by attending a work placement either within one of our own social enterprises or main stream employer.
We run a number of programmes

  • Forth Bridge – a service for those clients who have experienced mental health conditions. This programme provides employability training, individual support and work placement opportunities.
    • As of 1 April 2015, Forth Bridge is now part of a new supported employment service All in Edinburgh delivered by the Edinburgh Supported Employment Consortium (ESEC), which is made up of The Action Group, ENABLE Scotland, Forth Sector and Intowork.

The service supports people who have a disability or long term health condition to find and maintain paid jobs.   All in Edinburgh provides a personalised, one to one service for each client which can be tapered off or reinstated when necessary.

All in Edinburgh uses the Scottish Government’s 5 Stage Supported Employment Framework.  The support we provide can include:

      • Money and benefits advice.
      • Assistance with job applications and support to arrange adjustments.
      • Support to source vacancies.
      • Job coaching within the workplace by an experienced employment worker.
      • Support to retain a job if you need it.
      • Signposting to other services in Edinburgh, if this is appropriate.
