Forth Sector’s social enterprise* businesses exist to provide work placements, training, and supported employment and are wholly owned trading arms of Forth Sector.
These businesses have two simple aims – to be sustainable and independent of grants and subsidies and to provide real work environments within which people can flourish.
*The UK Government defines social enterprises as “businesses with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.”
“Social enterprises are businesses that trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment”. (Social Enterprise UK)
